Novacorr owners, husband & wife team, Keith and Nova Atkinson made a special trip to Queensland’s tropical city, Cairns.
They were there to deliver one of our new Huntington’s disease beds to a Mr. David Plumb. David’s Sister, Tracey had seen our demonstration video featuring Kylie on the company website and decided immediately that this was the bed for her brother (who unfortunately is in the early stages of Huntington’s disease)
It was explained to the team on Saturday that David would usually wear a skullcap to protect himself from injury during his time in bed, all parties were overjoyed to learn that this headgear would no longer be necessary due to the protective design of the new HD bed.
We were also informed that David used to be transferred from chair to bed with the assistance of 4 carers! Now, however, due to the beds remote controlled up & down side mechanism he is able to be safely transferred by 1 carer using a hoist. This not only benefits David himself as it makes the transfer much safer and smoother for him, it also cuts down the amount of carers required in David’s daily routine.
Both David and his sister Tracey were extremely happy with the new bed, David with the new, safe, comfortable transfer method and the bed itself and Tracey in the knowledge that her brother will be as protected as he possibly can be whilst she is unable to be physically with him.
