FAQ: Motor neurone disease | Novacorr Healthcare

Q: My grandmother recently died from motor neurone disease. Is this a genetic condition? Will my mother be affected? And is there a cure?

A: Motor neurone disease (MND) is a rare neurological disorder that usually starts in middle or old age. The cause is unknown and there is no cure. The condition occasionally runs in families, but the overall risks of recurrence are small and it’s unlikely that your mother will be affected.
